Airis enables vulnerable and elderly people to cook safely on the stove. When connected to telecare, the benefits are compounded.
"My mum lives alone since my Dad passed away a couple of years ago… the food she was frying started to burn and the Airis cut the power."
Glenn Swanton
Airis acts proactively, which means a drastic reduction of smoke alarm activations and subsequent alarms to the alarm response centre.
Airis means independence and an improved quality of life. As it allows people to cook safely for themselves, meal provision – and its associated cost – is no longer necessary.
Airis protects vulnerable people from the risk of fire and toxic smoke inhalation. It doesn't wait for fires – it prevents them, and all without affecting everyday cooking.
From planning meals to shopping, preparing, cooking, eating and washing up, the whole process of cooking exercises numerous skills, both cognitive and physical.
Cooking helps to maintain a person's dignity, their physical dexterity, their cognitive abilities and of course their independence.
People at 80 have twice the number of cooking fires and those with physical or cognitive difficulties are at greater risk. But with Airis, these are no longer justifications to stop someone cooking.

Airis connects to any Telecare system via standard wireless devices such as those provided by Tynetec, Doro and Tunstall. The PCU (power control unit) has two no-volt outputs which are ideal for connection to any telecare wireless device. These outputs can be inverted if required, and various conditions can be set.
| Output 1 | Output 2 | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| OFF | OFF | Nothing to report |
| OFF | ON | Normal cooking detected |
| ON | OFF | Alarm. Airis has cut the power to prevent fire or smoke |
| ON | ON | Fault detected |

Herts Careline is one of the Telecare organisations leading the way by keeping clients safe and independent with Airis.
When compared to meal provision, an Airis installation is paid for within weeks, and the resident is kept happy and well.
Airis stove guard can be used on any hob up to 90cm wide powered by electricity, including induction.
The Airis Multisensor has a battery life of 3 to 7 years. The AA batteries are easily changed.

With Airis Sense Wi-Fi, devices can be connected to Airis Cloud for top-down organisational views of devices and activity and safety data.
When using Airis Sense Wi-Fi, Telecare providers can extend the capabilities of the Airis system with Airis Cloud, providing useful insight into each resident's wellbeing as well as their environment.

"My mum lives alone since my Dad passed away a couple of years ago and I was worried about her cooking… Now she wouldn't be without it as over Christmas the phone rang and she forgot she was cooking. She said when she went back to the kitchen, cooking had stopped as the food she was frying started to burn and the Airis cut the power."

"Our installation team have found this product very easy to programme and explain the operation to our client. Our clients feel more confident with the product and have said they don't notice that it's there."
– David Aitken
"This device works exactly as described and gives me great peace of mind as my relative is many miles away. Just as important though is the help and support from Unicook themselves, they made sure that the unit would do what I wanted it to do and could be fitted in the correct location. Even gave me a follow-up call to make sure everything was working as it should. I cannot fault the product or the service."
